$275

A comprehensive ultrasound to evaluate your baby’s growth, size, and well-being during pregnancy.

A Growth + Biophysical Profile (BPP) combines fetal growth measurements with an assessment of specific indicators of fetal well-being. This examination provides information about how your baby is growing while also evaluating movements, muscle tone, breathing movements, and amniotic fluid.

What’s Included

  • Diagnostic ultrasound evaluation

  • Interpretation by a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician

  • Finalized diagnostic report

  • Printed ultrasound images to take home

What This Ultrasound Evaluates

During your examination, detailed ultrasound imaging and measurements are obtained to evaluate fetal growth and well-being. The examination may include:

  • Fetal position and presentation

  • Fetal biometric measurements

  • Estimated fetal weight (EFW)

  • Growth percentile

  • Placental location and appearance

  • Fetal cardiac activity

  • Fetal breathing movements

  • Fetal body movements

  • Fetal tone

  • Amniotic fluid volume

  • Other clinically appropriate findings

Fetal biometric measurements typically include measurements of the baby’s head, abdomen, and femur. These measurements are used together to calculate an estimated fetal weight and assess growth in relation to gestational age.

The Biophysical Profile portion of the examination evaluates fetal breathing movements, body movements, tone, and amniotic fluid according to established criteria.

When Should I Schedule?

Growth + Biophysical Profile ultrasounds are typically performed during the third trimester (beginning at 28 weeks) and may be scheduled to evaluate fetal growth and well-being together or as part of ongoing pregnancy monitoring.

The appropriate timing can vary depending on the reason for your examination and your individual pregnancy. You may schedule a Growth + BPP Ultrasound independently or based on a recommendation from your healthcare provider.

Preparing for Your Appointment

No special preparation is typically required for a Growth + BPP Ultrasound.

After scheduling, you’ll receive an email with important pre-appointment information and paperwork to review. All required forms will be completed and signed in the studio at your appointment.

Your Results

Your ultrasound will be performed by a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and submitted for interpretation by a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician.

Your sonographer cannot provide or interpret diagnostic findings during your appointment. Once the examination has been reviewed, a finalized diagnostic report will be provided according to your selected report-delivery preferences and can be shared with your healthcare provider.

Please Note

Ultrasound findings may occasionally require additional imaging, follow-up, or further evaluation by your healthcare provider. A Growth + Biophysical Profile does not replace routine prenatal care or an established relationship with an obstetric healthcare provider.
